ANNE E.'S JOURNAL -January 9, 2008 - "Post Office Story"

January 9, 2008 -

The little girl was about 4 years old. I told the woman to go ahead of me. She had just 4 packages and I knew I was going to be a while. So she went ahead and started using the machine they have there. Well I was listening to her little girl. Her name was Nevada (Does she have a brother named North Dakota? I donÕt know.). She was pretty funny, very talkative and very expressive. Her mom tried to keep her entertained by having her place packages on a table near by and talking to her. Nevada let her mom know a couple of times that she was hungry and that her stomach hurt. Her mom just said, ÒI know, IÕll be done soonÓ. So near the tail end of their visit, Nevada went on a long ramble. She was just walking around talking to herself. She got close to me near the end of it and IÕm so glad she did because I got to hear what she was saying. Her last line was this.... ÒShe doesnÕt know what sheÕs doing. But I love her and she loves me!Ó It was just great. I imagined her mom sitting down with her one day and explaining that she really doesnÕt know what sheÕs doing but that she loves Nevada and Nevada loves her so everything would be ok. It was just a nice thing to hear.
