ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - February 22, 2007

February 22, 2007

Well it smells like spring (and teen spirit!) here in Cleveland this week....unlike this weekend past! I sure am proud of those of you who braved the precarious, snowy weather and got out to a show. We had a great line-up and the line-up delivered. We started with a great trio show at the Tradesman's Tavern on Thursday. Sometimes the setting, mood and a show all work together and you have a particularly good time! That's the way it was at The Tradesman's Tavern. Maybe it's because Kelly, Matt and I sat maybe it was the Chicken Paprikash...who know?. It just all came together in a marvelous way. We thank all who were there and we wish Tim a safe journey to, while in and home from Iraq. READ MORE about Tim and FREEDOM FIGHTER

Friday morning we got up at the you know what crack of dawn and went to Fox 8 Studios in Cleveland to do the Fox 8 Morning Show. Oh my gosh I donÕt know how a human being can get up early every day. I just canÕt even get used to it one night a year!!! Anyway, the band all met (God Bless You Matt, Kelly, Paul and Jim) and started rollinÕ it out. ItÕs really fast paced TV and itÕs really fun. Two and a half hours go by and you wonder how. So we performed live and as always the morning anchors were so very generous to us. They say weÕre one of their favorites and we believe it! Thank you Wayne and Tracy (who is really beautiful, even more beautiful in person). Thanks also to producer Margaret Daykin. I have learned so much from Margaret and I know that will continue. IÕm way better equipped for TV because of Margaret. After we finished doing the live show, we taped a song for AndreÕs "Coffee Quiz". We wrote it in the Green Room. ItÕs 15 seconds of magic my friends. We rocked it out and also (parents beware swearing coming, ear muffs, ...) laughed our asses off doing it. Fox 8 Mornings will air us performing our "AndreÕs Coffee Quiz" hit single at various times for the Coffee Quiz contest. HereÕs a link if youÕd like to see some of our performance of Girls and Airplanes on Fox * Morning Show. GIRLS AND AIRPLANES FOX 8 Video Clip

Friday night, we had our first full-band show at The Greenville Inn. Many of you have requested more east side gigs so there you have it. It began with me doing some solo shows on Thursdays at The Greenville (a lonely little lady with a guitar a dance belt and a tube of chap stick) and building into a full band thing. Thank you to Brian Baddour for filling in for Paul on bass and thanks to audience members (and dads of kids who are musicians) Terry and Paul, both for driving to your homes and coming up with an extra bass for Brian when his broke! Two kids had their bass borrowed and didnÕt know it till the next morning! What a friendly group of people we met that night. Thanks to The Greenville and the entire staff there for taking good care of us! We had a great time with you all and we look forward to another show.
Ah Saturday Night at The Nickel!!! Thanks to all of you who ignored the snow storm that started at around 6PM and came on out to the full band show anyway!!!!! Yes, yes, you made it and you rocked! We passed out full-color fliers to you at the Nickel so that you can help to get songs like SECOND CLASS CITIZEN and GIRLS AND AIRPLANES placed on ShowtimeÕs The L-Word. The flier includes all the info you need to help make this happen. (VIEW/READ the FLIER!) Many times people will ask me, "why arenÕt you on TV or the Radio, why arenÕt you bigger?" ThatÕs a really loaded question but I will tell you, that all things start with a genuine buzz.? A buzz is created when people hear something they like (like a song they canÕt get out of their head), begin to talk about it, go to shows/a web link to hear it, talk about it, blog about it, share the music and in so doing, create a buzz. The buzz can get so loud that others (record execs., producers, publishers, etc.) hear the buzz, can no cannot ignore it and say, what is this? who is this? I want this. Will you all please pick up one of these full color fliers at a show and take it home? Then get online and start buzzing!!!!!!! I believe, I believe, I believe. Believe. I thank you 1000 times and more! READ MORE about The Nickel and SECOND CLASS CITIZEN Song/Lyrics/and T-shirt/order T-shirt

The weekend continued at The Mustard Seed in Akron. I do so love you Mustard Seed, for your coffee, your grass seed shots (thatÕs not illegal) and your brunch!!! READ MORE about MUSTARD SEED

Finally at 6:06PM, the God Squad band began the CrossRoads Contemporary Service at the United Church of Christ in Avon Lake. It was a nice ending to a crazy weekend of shows!!! READ MORE about the church

Last week was like a marathon and at the end of it I felt like I beat my best time! ThatÕs always nice.

HereÕs whatÕs going on this week:

"Girls and Airplanes" is completely mastered and being mailed out today! I should arrive Monday. Woo Hoo!!! I feel like Rudolph when Clarice told him she thought he was cute. I talked a long time Wednesday night to my producer Andy Ackland who had just finished the mastering at Paramount Studios in Hollywood (thatÕs fun to write) and weÕre both really excited about all the good things to come from this release. IÕm really so happy to finally say to you, a summer release (IÕm thinking June)!!!!!
Remember you can listen to snippets from the upcoming CD. You can now download them too from my MySpace site and share them with friends.

Thurs., Feb. 22nd IÕll be at 8th Annual Free Times Music Awards. I will be a "special celebrity guest presenter" (please let me meet the other celebrity guests!!) in the singer/songwriter category. I also happened to open some of my mail (from my mail pile) on Tuesday and actually really read it (instead of fake read it like I usually do just to pretend IÕm getting things done) and found a letter from Ray Leonardi (Promotions Manager at FT) and Lauren Kirk (Promotions Asst. at FT) telling me that IÕm being inducted into the Free Times Music Awards All Stars. I along with three other musicians (they didnÕt say who) will be presented with the first-time ever All Star Award for the achievement of winning in our category 3 times. I really thank you all for making that happen. Thank you to all of you who voted for me when I asked that you would. I appreciate it and my memory is long. IÕll be asking you to do the same when the GrammyÕs come up next year!!!! And thank you to the Free Times for this recognition. I really appreciate you giving Cleveland musicians a night on the town and for your recognition of my career so far. I donÕt care what anyone thinks, I still get really excited about this night and I think itÕs really special and IÕm thankful for it. I might even wear purple glasses and KellyÕs coming with me!! Remember Paul Lewis, my bassist is up for Best Bassist. GO GET IT PAUL!!! You Rock and we all know it! You can read all about the night and see photos in next weekÕs issue of the Free Times.
