ANNE E.'S JOURNAL -March 15, 2007
March 15, 2007 Hey hey Everyone!!!!
I hope this message finds you well. First of all, how about Tuesday? What a beautiful day! Actually we had a few real beauties starting this past Friday. I flew back in from Florida on Friday (no, my cancellation of shows was not so I could stay in Florida bask on the sun and drink Margaritas, although that sounds terrific. I really was ill!!!), stepped off the plane, looked outside and had to look around to make sure that I had not boarded the wrong plane back in Tampa and landed somewhere...well someplace back in Florida! But I was, in fact, in Cleveland! I was all bundled and braced for the shock of the north wind, but no...it was warm and sunny. Woo hoo! Thank you to Kacey, my, well KariÕs, fine fine lady, for picking me up. Seriously, she had to circle round and round and round the airport because my plane was late.
So yes IÕm home and going crazy with all the planning around "Girls and Airplanes", the new CD, as well as the every day operations of Funny Man Music Ltd. (Use this link to read the story about how I named my company Funny Man Music)
ItÕs not even good crazy yet because I have to wrap my head around a new business plan. Ugh!!! ItÕs a whole new ball game this time because IÕm actually going to make a business plan. Oh no not by myself believe me. My business plan would involve running around like an ass (actually, I can run faster than a real ass) trying to gather tons of tidbits of information and plan a kick ass CD Release until I ended up looking a lot like Tippi Hendren in The Birds. IÕm trying to gather a team of smart people to help me to use my abundance of energy for the good of this rock star project. With their help, your help and my brains and good looks (my mom wrote that I swear!), IÕm going straight to the top!!!!
Thanks to all of you who emailed, called and text messaged me to see how I was when I was out sick last week and the weekend before. I try to respond to all of your correspondence but itÕs hard when your blowing your nose constantly, crying about the misfortune of having to rest your voice and keep your big mouth shut and taking pills (prescribed thank you very much) all day. Seriously, thank you. I will try to get back to each and every one of you. And thanks to club owners for their understanding. I rarely cancel a show but sometimes it happens and I surely appreciate your respect. I love ya man (feminists please donÕt write to me. "I love ya man...and wo-man" just doesnÕt flow. Woman woman woman, there, I love you)!
Ok, this weekend. Yeah baby yeah St. PatrickÕs Day is on a Saturday this year!!!!! So all you Irish Catholics (and all others who pretend they understand the holiday..."Oh I donÕt know, something with snakes and a guy named Pat who apparently liked green beer") who normally take the day off work and have your childÕs school day canceled (in Rocky River there are some schools who actually close on St. PatrickÕs Day...."Why does my child drink instead of work? What happened? He used to be so smart and good?"-- Mothers, fathers and guardians please donÕt write to me, IÕm joking...and IÕll see your child at the parade downtown in a few years.) youÕve got the day. To those of you who, like the band and I, work on Saturdays (Kelly quit now. We all know you work all day and sing at night), I hope you can get off work or at least can be drunk at work unless youÕre a surgeon or my banker.
Now if you are off work and still able to hear by 10PM, please come on out to the Nickel on 4365 State Rd. in Cleveland. The band and I will be there ready to Rock!!!! ItÕs $5 at the door and trust me, itÕs a blast! Last time we were there there was a snow storm but (use Britney Spears voice please) yÕ all still helped fill the room, so donÕt give me any, "Oh I was passed out on Euclid and 9th downtown and couldnÕt make it". You get up, go to the bathroom and throw up if you have to, put some more gel in your hair and get to the Nickel! Call Westlake Cab (440.331.5000) if you need to. BE SAFE and pace yourself. The band and I would love to see you there!
Friday night IÕll be at Maize Valley Winery (click the link a the bottom of this email for my schedule for a list of venues) @ 7:30PM until 10PM. This is a cozy spot you might want to check out. They have tables and a little store a patio and wine just like Jesus made for the people at the wedding atCana.
Speaking of Jesus, on Sunday, you can join me and the "God Squad" band at the United Church of Christ in Avon Lake (again Link below) for the CrossRoads Service. The service is at 6:06PM. IÕm telling you, if you are looking for a church or just to try out a new service, come to this service! The music is great if I do say so myself. But it's more than that.... ItÕs a contemporary multi-media service. There are film clips, time for prayer requests, sometimes a discussion (donÕt be afraid) and a great message given by the Reverend Kelly Peters. I think itÕs just a great place for your spirit. Sometimes we have a guest speaker. This week we have Darryl Kistler who is a chaplin at Heidlelberg College (Tiffin OH). As you may have read in last week's email, a story about this service was on the cover of The Gay People's Chronicle (use this link to read article)
ItÕs a good story I think. It definitely tells you what it's all about. Check it out. I'm really hoping more of you will give the CrossRoads Service a try. This isn't a "gay or lesbian" service. This isn't a "straight" service. It's for everyone, gay, straight whatever. Read the article. The Avon Lake United Church of Christ is open and affirming and that is unfortunately still. But fortunately it's here! I think many gay and lesbian people leave their churches because they don't feel truly accepted and thus not really welcome. I know that's how I have felt. So if you feel that way or if you'd like a new experience at church please come to the CrossRoads Service and see how you feel. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Ok that's really it for now. I've got to get a movin'. I've got a CD cover to look at and maybe I should get out of my pajamas and dressed since it's 9PM (ah the luxury of a home office!-I'm not lazy really). Getting ready for this release and a new plan is frightening and exciting all at once. Please send me calm thoughts. Ok. Thanks for being on the mailing list and thanks for reading this week's email. Please take care. Happy Saint Patrick's Day, remember that I appreciate you and be good (please use the Will Ferrel voice of George Bush) "really, really good"!!!!!
Peace, (Is it me or is "Pray for Peace and Non-Violence" redundant?)
