ANNE E.'S JOURNAL -May 17, 2007
May 17, 2007 Greetings to all of you!
I'm writing to you from St. Petersburg Florida where I am making plans for my CD release. It's crunching numbers, lining up schedules, creating the final song order for the CD with my producer Andy Ackland in LA, schueduling a photo shoot, (Ugh!!!!, I'm really not a big fan of the photo shoot but I found the greatest, sweetest photographer and am actually looking forward to it) press releases, rehearsals and on and on and blah blah blah!!!!! It's very exciting but can be overwhelming. Seriously, sometimes I just start crying. Then I slap myself, remind myself that this is good stuff, I can do it, pull myself together and get back to business. I'm sure it would make a nice film short. The range of emotions is incredible and I am definitely a conflicted lead character!
So, I think next week I will finally be able to announce the date, location and time for the release of "Girls and Airplanes"! I really am happy about it and I think is going to be quite a show!
In the mean time there is other good news.
First of all, my CD, is going to be reviewed in the June issue of Curve Magazine http://www.curvemag.com
The June issue is Curve's music issue. Curve contacted me in March about this. I sent them my CD, "Pop the Star" and "Girls and Airplanes". So look forward to that. When we get closer to June, I will let you know stores in your area where you can purchase a copy if you'd like.
Also, yesterday I was contacted by the production company "All Out Films". http://www.alloutfilms.com
Andrea Meyerson founded All Out Films in 2002 and produced and directed the award-winning film ÒLaughing Matters.Ó The film is currently airing on LOGO Network. The award-winning sequel, entitled ÒLaughing MattersÉMore!Ó is also airing on LOGO TV enjoying critical acclaim. The third installment of the Laughing Matters series, "Laughing Matters...The Men " will be screened on April 29th at the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film festival.
Well the company is currently in post production with Kate ClintonÕs Kick-off performance of her 25th Anniversary Tour. Those of you in Cleveland may remember when Kate MCeed Gay Pride Cleveland a few years back. I was there performing as well. So All Out Films has produced Kate's kick off performance. In addition, they are doing a documentary of her tour.
Here's where comic Jennie McNulty comes in. Jennie, if you remember is a comic who I wrote about in my April 25th journal. http://www.anneedechant.com/journal042507.html
We met when we were performing on Olivia Cruise Lines. Jennie happened to be in Sarasota last time I performed there. She came out to my show at Metro Coffee and Wine on April 20th. There she bought my CD, "Something of the Soul" http://www.anneedechant.com/cds.html
A few days later Jennie wrote to me to let me know that she was going to share my music with Andrea at All Out Films because one of the editors heard my song "When We Are Old" and thought that Andrea would be interested in using it in the documentary for Kate Clinton. Well Andrea contacted me on Monday! She wants to use my song! This is great news. It will be the first song I've had placed in a film. Andrea explained that it would play as the credits are rolling. Just like in Titanic when Celine sings "My Heart Will Go On"!!!!!!!! Now this is not scheduled to air on LOGO but there is a possibility. Plans now are for a DVD. It's pretty cool. Thank you Jennie!!!!
So that's some pretty nice news!
