ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - May 24, 2007 - "Church" the game.
May 24, 2007 Ok, hi everybody. How the heck are you? I'm hoping that we all get a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather that is upon us. It's been a beautiful week. I think Spring in Cleveland can be just wonderful. The colors are something else.
Ok well I continue to move forward with plans for the Release of "Girls and Airplanes" this summer while maintaining my current performance schedule and trying to shop at Target! It is challenging and I'm really thankful for the help I have around me. Thanks to many of you who have volunteered to help where you can. I appreciate it and you know I have or will take you up on it.
All good stuff, people, and it's coming soon....Thanks too to all of you who left such nice messages for me in my inbox in response to last week's email. So many of you are right with me, fired up about the music and how things are progressing. It's really nice to hear from you. You are so kind and I do appreciate it!
As for this weekend's schedule, let me just say COME OUT TO THE WINCHESTER THIS SATURDAY AND SEE MY SHOW!!!!! I'll be there with the band and with opening act Mobile Ave. (Acoustic Trio). Pete Cavano, who many of you know from the church services at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, will be standing in on bass! Pete's an incredible guitarist who's worked with several artists in and out of town including the late Robert Lockwood. He's a good friend too. I spend lots of time with Pete working on music, talking about music and taping some of my new stuff in preparation for another CD. Pete has agreed to help me with arrangements for the next project. Anyway, I'd like you to come out on Saturday night to one of my favorite haunts, The Winchester, and hear the band. It's been a while but it's warm weather again so full band shows are on their way starting this Saturday. Admission is just 5 buckaroos and it's gonna be great! Matt, Jim, Kelly, Pete and I will be there to Rock On!!!
That's Sat., May 26th @ 9PM with Mobile Ave. and then "Big Mama D" (I mean me. I've always been known for my size don't you know) at 10PMish. 12112 Madison Ave., Lakewood OH 216.226.5681, http://www.thewinchester.net
Friday, May 25th (Yes this is backwards. Travel with me children to a place outside the box) @ 12noon - 1:30PM. I'll be alone, alone I say, at the Colonial Arcade. If you work downtown, come to the Arcade for lunch (there are lots of choices) and enjoy listening to some music. I may go to see our drummer, Jim Tobias, who's been working at The Renaissance Hotel yes, like the one in the song 25 (use this link to the Pop The Star page and hit the ITunes button to listen to a clip of 25 OR TO ORDER IT ON ITUNES) Jim is a painter and has been working downtown at the hotel. He told me about some preacher who sets up a sound system on Public Square and then just starts preaching. Jim said it's loud as loud can be and that they guy really raps for a loooooong time. I'm not sure what kind of license you need to go to Public Square and set up shop, but somehow, he's got permission or no one bothers...except for the guys painting the Renaissance! It's something according to Jim. I think I must see it. Maybe I'll wear my 2nd Class Citizen shirt or I can set up my little rolling sound system and we can have a dueling show. Anyway I might meet Jim so he can show me.
That's that for this weekend. I must also tell you that I'm going to be at The Greenville in on Wed., May 30th (7150 Pine St., Chagrin Falls, OH 440.247.8068 www.thegreenvilleinn.com) @ 9:30PM.
Kelly and Pete are going to join in on the fun. This will be a first. I just thought what the heck. I asked Pete to come on out and separately Kelly said she was thinking she'd like to come and sing. So that's what we're 'a gonna do. Come on out all you east siders. Walk out of Beechwood Mall and get to The Greenville!
I'm going to be in a really good mood because that evening prior to the Greenville, I will have had my first fly fishing lesson. CLICK HERE TO READ ABOUT ME CRYING WHILE FISHING
So anyway, I'm going to learn how to fly fish. At the very least, I can play, "A River Runs Through It" when I don't feel like pretending I'm a Rock Star or a priest. Seriously, years ago "Church" was one of the big games at my house. Especially on rainy days. Click HERE TO READ ABOUT THE GAME "CHURCH"
I did promise you two weeks ago that I would tell you the story of my dad (though I found out just this morning that it was actually my Grandpa Woodie and my Great grandpa Edward), a plow and a horse. It is a great story and I did get my dad's permission to tell it to you. But alas, I'm out of time. I'm not being sneaky. I really have to get ready to go to band rehearsal. But I am going to tell you this story next week. I talked to my Aunt Winnie for like an hour this morning to get more details (my dad sent me to her). She told me some really interesting stories about my family. I had no idea that my great grandparents met on a "boat" on their way from Europe to America. Everybody has stories. Just ask one of your relatives.
So next week I will tell you the story ok?
Until then, I wish you a great holiday weekend. Enjoy each other's company and I hope you can be outside to enjoy that too.
See you soon...like Saturday!
Thanks again,
Anne E.
