ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - June 22, 2007 - CD Release info. Radio Play for Girls and Airplanes"!
June 22, 2007 Hello all. Happy summer 2007 and greetings from St. Petersuburg Florida! It's hotter than he** here people and I should know.
I'm here working on the Cd release from afar as well as preparing for my performances this weekend and next. Tonight I'm in Sarasota at Metro Coffee and Wine (Metro Coffee and Wine, 711 S Osprey Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236, 941-365-1800 www.metro-coffee.com) @ 9p.m., solo/acoustic.
Tomorrow, Kelly and Matt jump on a plane to join me here for the weekend. We'll be together and performing at "A Taste for Wine" (241 Central Ave., St. Petersburg FL 33701) Saturday night at 8:30p.m. I'm really excited because a nice crowd comes out to this beautiful wine bar in downtown St. Pete; a really nice listening audience and they've never heard the trio. I think they're going to really enjoy it. I know I will. It'll be nice to be with Kelly and Matt. So many of my performances on the road are solo/acoustic. Sometimes it gets a little lonely ("When I was young, I never needed anyone..." please sing the Eric Carmen song, "All by Myself" click here for the lyrics if you need them http://www.lyricsfreak.com/e/eric+carmen/all+by+myself_20051001.html
So it's nice to have the opportunity to perform with my bandmates. I know I'll have to listen to their yappers but they'll have to listen to mine so it all evens out!!!! I can't wait! Come out to "A Taste For Wine" tomorrow night ! Those of you not in the area...just get on a plane!!!!
On Sunday, Matt, Kelly and I will be at The Pier ( http://www.stpete-pier.com)
800 2nd Ave Ne, St Petersburg, FL 33701, 727-821-6443). It really is a Pier. It has a big building that was designed and built in the late 60's and early 70's. I think it was maybe designed by Mr. Brady (take a look at the photos on the link and you'll see what I mean). The lighting at night is really beautiful. The Pier, however, has been around a lot longer than 38 years. Click here to read more http://www.stpetepier.com/history.php.
I prefer the design of the world famous Million Dollar Pier that opened in 1926 (sorry Mr. Brady. Now Cindy Brady's gonna kick my ass!...or maybe it will be Carol). It was the first city-owned pier in St. Petersburg History. "The Mediterranean-revival casino style building featured an open-air ballroom with terrazzo floors on the rooftop and an observation deck." It cost $998,279.18. I love it! Take a look at the link and see what you think.
Anyway, you can join Matt, Kelly and I at The Pier from 1-4p.m. this Sunday, June 24th. If you'd like you can visit the shops, fish, eat, feed the Pelicans look out onto Tampa Bay and listen to us!
Matt and Kelly will hang out until Monday and then return to Cleveland. I'm going to stay here and perform again at "A Taste for Wine" on Sat., June 30th @ 8:30p.m. I'll be home on July 5th.
All is well concerning the new CD and its release! I will actually have 1000 copies finished and delivered to me next week. You will start seeing some press on the event and CD soon. Check out The Plain Dealer, The Free Times, The Gay People's Chronicle, Scene, Sun Newspapers, Cleveland.com, The Avon Lake Press and lots more!!! On the morning of my CD release (Fri., July 13th @ 9p.m. @ The Winchester, 12112 Madison Ave., Lakewood OH 44107, 216.226.5681, http://www.thewinchester.net) you can catch me on Fox 8's Morning Show. We'll be live from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with host, Kenny Crumpton. (http://www.myfoxcleveland.com/myfox/pages/Entertainment/Music?pageId=7.3). You'll be able to visit this page after our show to see a clip of our performance in case you can't view it live or if you'd like to see some of it again. I'll keep you posted. Remember, CD Release Concert July 13th!
Remember too, that Curve Magazine will do a little blurb on "Girls and Airplanes" in their music issue which is in July. I thought it was June but it's the July issue. Sorry about that but I think it changed a few times. For those of you who have asked, I know you can get the magazine at Diverse Universe in Lakewood and I think the new newstand in Rocky River on Detroit Rd. near Mitchell's Ice Cream will have it. Sorry I don't know the name of it but I think you can find it. I'll let you know about more locations when we get closer to the issue. We'll also post the blurb here on my site. I think you'll have to search for me amongst many female artists that will be featured in Curve's (http://www.curvemag.com) July issue. I'll have to look myself. Maybe I'll be next to Paris Hilton. She has a CD and she could be a lesbian by now (Please Paris don't sue me. I just said "she COULD be")....You've seen those prison movies!
You may want to visit here on my web site and my MySpace site (http://www.myspace.com/anneedechant) next mid-week for a nice surprise. Seriously, it's good."

"This just in! WAPS 93.1FM The Summit, has added "Girls and Airplanes" to their regular rotation. This is great news. They'll be the first to play the song on air. Thanks to Bill Gruber, Programming & Music Director, (330-761-3098 or mailto:billgruber@913thesummit.com) for adding the song. If you'd like you can thank him yourself. Radio loves to hear from its listeners. It is a great source of feedback for them. And musicians who are played on air love it when you let radio know that you like their choice because that's what gets it played some more. The airing of my title track, "Girls and Airplanes" begins tonight with Jim Chenot's show Radio Sandbox. The show airs 11PM - 12 midnight. You can email Jim
(jimchenot@hotmail.com) too if you'd like to say thanks for playing the tune. The week after next you can request more songs from the CD as radio will receive the entire CD late next week. Right now, radio has only the single. Some of you can listen to The Summit live on your computer at (http://www.913thesummit.com/audio/)
The station is working hard to make online listening accessible to you. Have a listen and let them know if you love it!!!!!! This is independent radio and you and I still have a voice!!!!!

If there is a station that you'd like to have play my music, please let me know. I'll give it a try. Remember, the more info. you can provide, the easier it is for me to get it to the right person at the station. Keep in mind, those stations owned by corporations such as Clear Channel are the toughest nut, I daresay, impossible nut, to crack without a big record label behind you. I'd love to be on Q104 and on 102.1FM (Oh Delilah, won't you play my song for a lonely heart) but really, the best chance for my music is on independent and college radio. These stations still give their listeners variety and choice. So these stations are the ones that will respond best!!!! Let us know what you know and we'll give it a whirl.
Ok, well enough of that. I''m going to go. I thank you for your excitement around the upcoming CD. I appreciate your kind words of support and I look forward to all good things. Enjoy yourself and the lovely summer. I wish we were all "off" like when we were in school. Enjoy the time you do have. I'm going to fish more, that's what I know. I hope you make time to do what you love. Hope to see you at a show soon. Until then...
Take care.
