ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - July 25, 2007 - NEW MERCH available! Fall is in the air!?
July 25, 2007 Hello everyone,
ItÕs mid-week in Cleveland after a gorgeous weather weekend. The old joke about what follows two days of rain in Cleveland (ans. Monday) does not apply this summer! Matt, Kelly and I were on KelleyÕs Island this past weekend performing at KelleyÕs Island Brewery. It was great to see many of you out enjoying yourselves on the island. KIB has made some awesome improvements to their space and many of you were there to enjoy it. They have built and outside bar, new patio and have a ton of new seating on the lawn. The Island Fest. fireworks were fantastic as usual and if you were at the Brewery, then you had the best seat on the island. We will return to KIB on Saturday, August 18th at 8p.m. Visit http://www.kelleysislandbrewpub.com for details on the venue and http://www.kelleysislandchamber.com/ for details on getting to KelleyÕs Island.
The ÒGod SquadÓ and I have spent much of this week in final preparation for our summer concert at the United Church of Christ in Avon Lake (www.alucc.org).The concert is this Sunday, July 29th @ 7:30p.m. The concert shares music from the CrossRoads Worship services that take place from Sept. - May. This weekendÕs show is a full-band performance featuring Pete Cavano (lead guitar), Steph Zegarac (keyboards), Chuck Smolko (bass), Toby Packard (drums), myself (vocals and guitar) and the music team. The ALUCC choir will join us on a few songs and sing a tune for you. ItÕs a pretty cool and uplifting experience without showy display or an 800 number flashing at the bottom of the screen telling you that God wants you to write a check. You wonÕt see ladies with mascara running down their faces or people collapsing in the aisles. ItÕs simply a time to enjoy a new church experience. I hope that youÕll think about coming out to ALUCC (32801 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake OH 44012) this weekend for ÒLoaves, Fishes and Rock-n-RollÓ. Come as you are. Admission is free and children are welcome. There will be a good will offering during the concert.
On Thursday, you can join Pete Cavano and I at Thorncreek Winery in Aurora (www.thorncreekwinery.com) Please note that the performance begins at 8p.m. rather than the usual start time of 7p.m. I have a radio interview at WAPS with Jim Chenot earlier that evening so weÕll begin an hour later but play until 11p.m. rather than 10p.m. as well. So come and relax on the patio with us, have a glass of wine and enjoy the music. The interview with Jim Chenot will air on Friday at 11p.m.
Friday afternoon I will be at the Colonial Arcade in downtown Cleveland (12p.m. - 1:30p.m.) and then at Maize Valley Winery in Hartville (maizevalleywinery.com) @ 7:30p.m.
On Tuesday, July 31st (can you believe that July is almost over?) I will be at Cain Park (www.cainpark.com) along with Alexis Antes and Robin Stone as part of the $2.00 Tuesdays Concert Series in Evans Amphitheater. Seating is general admission. If youÕve never been to a concert here I strongly suggest it. It is located in Cleveland Heights and is a beautiful outside venue. Visit their web site and take a look.
Orders for the new CD have been pouring in. Those of you who have ordered online will be receiving your new CDs in a few days. I want to let you know that later today you will be able to go online and purchase some of the new merchandise now available. There are three new t-shirts, two pendants, coffee mugs, buttons. ItÕs some pretty cool stuff. So visit the NEW MERCH section later today to have a look. I think youÕre going to like what you see.
I donÕt know about you but I can already smell fall in the air. Sometimes when I walk outside or IÕm getting into my car I notice it. ItÕs one of the things I like about where I live. The change of seasons is wonderful. There are some huge changes that occur but also some very subtle ones that you learn to recognize if youÕve lived here a long time. Pete Cavano actually told me he has recently noticed a change in the clouds. I havenÕt noticed that. He could be jiving me. What the fo Pete?!
Soon Perch season will be at itÕs peak. Can you believe I have not been out on the lake fishing once this entire season! ItÕs not right I tell you. I have to get busy on my boat and get out there. Maybe IÕll just bug my dad enough and he can take me out on his. You know when I was little thatÕs what I did with my dad. He would take each of us (me, my two sisters and brother) out of school for a day, and weÕd go fishing. It would be just one of us and him alone with our thoughts, the fish and some Dolly Madison (www.dollymadison.com) cherry pies. I remember one time when I was about 5, hearing my mother talking to my dad in the other room. She was saying, ÒWoodie, take her fishing. She wants to go!Ó I think he was not prepared for me liking the things that I liked, which was basically anything with a motor, fishing and football. My older sister was all girl and my brother preceded her. So I donÕt think he anticipated that I would enjoy so many of the things I did. My mother was basically my attorney during my growing up years and would often explain me to him. Thank goodness. Anyway I still love to fish and have done far too little of it this season.
Ok, at long last IÕm going to tell you the story that I promised months ago. ItÕs a story about my grandfather and great grandfather. I thought it was about my father and grandfather but when I asked my dad about it he told me otherwise. CLICK HERE TO READ STORY
So there it is. There are tons more stories. We all have them donÕt we? ItÕs nice to talk with your relatives and either recall stories or hear things you never have before. Amazing things happen every day
Well, I hope I see some of you out this week, this weekend and next Tuesday. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week relaxing on the front porch, taking a walk, in your work or with your friends and family.
Until the next time, take it easy.
Anne E.
