ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - August 15, 2007 - Weekend Recap and Radio Station List

August 15, 2007

Hello Everyone,

Ok, well, summer and our busy summer schedule is still in full swing, soon to begin winding down. Thanks to everybody who came out to the Akron Art Museum last Thursday to hear the full band rock it out! It was the first show of the Downtown at Dusk and we were forced inside because of the weather. Oh it was raining like crazy in Cleveland when we left for the show. I couldnÕt imagine being outside but we did have an indoor location so we were on our way. Kelly and I drove through a foot of water on W. 117th! She explained to me that on Tuesday there were actually police officers in a raft with a motor at that same location, fishing people out of their cars. I also heard that there were tornado warnings in Akron. I figured, ŌthatÕs it, there are going to be 20 people there for the showĶ. Close to 400 people showed up for the performance. You people have no fear! So we had a great time playing inside the newly renovated Akron Art Museum. What a great audience.

I was at JimmyÕs on Friday night. It was a solo/acoustic show. Again I was surprised by my audience who had me come back for two encores. I earned my money that night. You all were crazy and I loved it. ItÕs nice sometimes to perform with just me and my guitar. Nicer still when it is appreciated. Thank you to JimmyÕs and to all of you. Thank you to DoreenÕs aunt who told me a story about my song ŌGreen HandĶ and one of her relatives. He is a Vietnam Veteran and was in Washington DC probably 7 years ago. I happened to be there that day and left about 20 cassette tapes of my song ŌGreen HandĶ under the Vietnam Memorial for people to take. I hoped people would take them and listen to the song. Well this gentleman did. As a result he has shared my music with many people. This woman told me that it meant so much to him and that is how she heard about me and my music. I had never heard the story until last Friday, seven years after leaving the song. I must say, it is such a reward to hear stories like that about things you have done.

On with the weekend recap....

Saturday was the hottest gig IÕve ever played and I donÕt mean because of me or my outfit. I think I lost 5 pounds during the show. IÕm a person who doesnÕt sweat much but during my performance at Burning River Fest. I looked down and my guitar had sweat beads all over it (very attractive I know)! Paul looked at me at one point to ask how many more tunes because a certain part of him was sweating off. It really was something else. At certain points I knew I had better not hold a note much longer or I would faint...seriously! But we had a great crowd and sold lots of CDs in that hour. Thanks to Burning River Fest. for inviting me out this year. I had never been to Wendy Park in Cleveland. ItÕs east of Edgewater Park and it is really beautiful. You get a view of downtown, industrial Cleveland and Lake Erie all in one spot. ItÕs really beautiful. IÕm constantly impressed with Cleveland Parks system and think itÕs one of the best parts of our city.

The new CD continues to sell both at shows and at my web site. I encourage you to order one or 20! I have begun sending out my new promotional kit to people in the industry. I have been accumulating names for a long time and have begun to send out the new CD.

Currently I am seeking new management. IÕve been managing myself for years. Now IÕm looking for someone much bigger than me to run things. It will likely be someone out of New York, Nashville or LA. We shall see.

I got a check in the mail this week for the first sale of one of my songs! All Out Films in Santa Monica California, paid me to use my song, ŌWhen We Are OldĶ(on Something of the Soul), in a documentary on Kate Clinton. Kate is a comedian who is celebrating her 25th year. They are documenting her tour and will use my song during the credits in that film. I donÕt know when it will be released but I will let you know when I know. The film company has done other shows which have been picked up and broadcast on the LOGO channel. So that is a possibility for this film. Other than that, it will be released on DVD. Their last DVD sold 10,000 copies which is great for an independent film company. I will keep you informed.

Again, the CD has been placed in area Borders stores, Record Exchanges, Time Traveler CD, Joseph Beth Books in Legacy Village and Barnes and Noble in Cleveland Heights. Check out the merchandise on the web site too.

This weekend actually begins tonight at The Winery at Thorncreek; a casual and beautiful setting in Norton Ohio. Join special guest Tim Longfellow and I at 7p.m.

Tomorrow, Matt, Kelly and I will be at West Park Station on Lorain Rd. near KammÕs Corner on ClevelandÕs west side. Show starts at 10p.m.

Then on Saturday, the trio will be at KelleyÕs Island Brewery for our last performance there of the summer. Show starts at 8p.m.

Next Thursday, Aug. 23rd at 7p.m., IÕll be with Pete Cavano at Thorncreek Winery in Aurora. Come and enjoy the beautiful setting inside, out on the patio or on the lawn. Have a glass of wine or one of their great appetizers and enjoy a Thursday night of music.

Well IÕm Ōheaded out to 60" for a day of hiking and fishing so IÕll say good-bye for now. IÕll see you at a show soon.

Remember to call your local radio station and request a song off of ŌGirls and AirplanesĶ! Use this link for the Radio Station list.

Thanks again for your continued support. I appreciate it.

Peace,

Anne E.
