ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - September 12, 2007 - Behind "Girls and Airplanes"

September 12, 2007

Hello to all of you!

IÕm back home and looking forward to a weekend of shows.

I hope you all are doing well.

Someone wrote to me this week after they had visited my web site. They were looking for the story behind the song, ÒGirls and AirplanesÓ. I had introduced it at a show they attended and wanted to read the story. I think itÕs a good idea to have the story posted so IÕm going to ask that my web master do that. In the meantime, here is the story behind the song. READ STORY HERE

The reward of writing this song has already been so great. I have had many approach me and tell me stories about their grandmother, mother or aunt who was one of these women. I have heard stories of women who flew planes that they had built to their destinations in Europe...without any guns on board!

Many of these women builders and pilots take a selfless approach wanting no attention drawn to themselves for what they did. One woman said, ÒI did it for my countryÓ.

But I am thankful to these women and want their story told. They opened the door of possibility for all of us. So I hope the song helps to tell the story and make people aware of this extraordinary group.

This weekend I will be back at JimmyÕs Café in Cuyahoga Falls. ThatÕs Friday, Sept. 14th @ 8p.m., solo/acoustic

On Saturday the trio will be at Kent State UniversityÕs Parish Newman Center for a clambake. The clambake starts at 6:30p.m.

On Sunday Sept. 16th, the God Squad and I will be at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ for the CrossRoads Service. The service takes place every Sunday at 6:06p.m. All are welcome.

On Wednesday, Sept. 19th at 7p.m. IÕll be at the Winery at Wolf Creek. My special guest is Tim Longfellow.

I hope to see you at a show soon!

Have a great rest of the week and weekend!

Ciao,

Anne E.
