ANNE E.'S JOURNAL - November 7, 2007 - Penny's From Heaven & Fox 8 HotList!
November 7, 2007
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!! I just hung up the phone with Sue who informed me that she saw snowflakes in Cleveland this morning. My goodness. I understand that it is in the 30's and rainy right now. ItÕs definitely that time of year. WeÕve had a fantastic fall so far I must say. So bundle up and stay warm and dry.
IÕm in Florida right now and due to leave for California for the Taxi Road Rally on Thursday. IÕm hoping to learn a lot about song writing and the business of it.
Kelly, Matt and I had a wonderful time at Tangiers in Akron on Saturday night. We opened for Jonatha Brooke. It was exactly what I had hoped for. A great room, great sound and a great show. ItÕs the type of show IÕm shooting for in 2008. IÕd like to focus on music rooms. That way IÕll get the best sound and look and wonÕt feel as if I am simply background music. WeÕve earned it now we just have to go after it. ItÕll be good. Thanks to all of you who came to the show. It was great to see loyal fans/friends and to meet new ones. And we met lots of new people.
Voting continues in the Fox 8 Hot List Competion. Although they announced that the standings are no longer available. We wonÕt know until after the competition ends this Friday. I believe they announce the winners on November 15th. We left off in 2nd place. So IÕm asking one last time that you vote. And I thank you for doing so!
I would also like to let you know that KellyÕs (my back up singer and great friend) restaurant, The Borderline Café was recently added to the category for Best Breakfast. IÕm telling you, I have eaten breakfast in a lot of places in Cleveland and Kelly and her sister CarrieÕs place is the best!!!! ItÕs located at 15810 Detroit Rd. in Lakewood (just east of Around the Corner). They are open Wed.-Sun. 8a.m. - 2:30p.m. Check it out and please place your vote for The Borderline Café for Best Breakfast.

IÕve decided that I will wait until we get a bit closer to Christmas to share a Christmas story with you. I have one that is not only about Christmas but the best day of my life!
For now, I would like to share a story with you from Linda Brunk. Many of you have seen Linda at my shows selling merch. or just enjoying the show. SheÕs hard to miss. SheÕs a lovely person, one of the most positive people IÕve met and one of the most kind. Two months ago Linda asked if I would donate my time to play in a benefit she was having for a charity that she created in 2004 after the death of her sister Penny. I said ÒyesÓ immediately. I have known about LindaÕs charity PennyÕs from Heaven for quite some time. Linda has always been willing to lend a hand to me and has been a great supporter of my music. There was no question whether or not I would perform. So Linda, along with her friend Renee Klehm, owner of ÒAll Thru the HomeÓ in Louisville Ohio, have put together a benefit, ÔOld Tyme Christmas BazaarÕ. The benefit is on November 17, 2007. It begins at 9a.m. and goes until 8p.m. I will perform at 2p.m. There will be items for sale, food, a raffle a silent auction. I cannot think of a better way for you to start spending some of your holiday money. In reading LindaÕs story (which I will share with you here), I saw that last year she raised $700.00. My first thought was, Òwe can beat that!Ó. All of you have been so generous throughout the years. I cannot tell you how many of you have offered your help, your money (I received financial donations for three of the 5 cds I have produced!) and your support over the past 14 years. IÕm counting on your generosity now. PennyÕs from Heaven focuses on children, sick children who need your help. This benefit is more important than any voting going on or any show coming up. IÕm asking that you please drive to All Thru the Home (226 E. Main St., Louisville Ohio...itÕs a hike) on Saturday, November 17, give a $5.00 donation at the door and go shopping. 100% of all sales will go to PennyÕs from Heaven. For every Anne E. DeChant CD sold, $5.00 will go to PennyÕs from Heaven. Here is LindaÕs story...

On Sunday night after the CrossRoads Service at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, Kelly, Matt and I drove over to the east side of Cleveland to Dark Tree Studios to do a little recording. I have to make a cd with three songs so that I could submit a promotional package to the Michigan WomynÕs Music Festival. They require that I send them a recording that represents me in the acoustic format. I did not find out until earlier this year that not having send an acoustic recording in prior submissions has been a roadblock for me. It was explained to me that those listening need to be able to hear what I will sound like in the acoustic context. The full-band cds I had sent them in the past did not help them to do this. So, IÕm giving them what they have asked for and hope that this will do it.
The good thing about this is that I have made the songs available on my myspace site. You can go to www.myspace.com/anneedechant and download the songs. TheyÕre $.99 each. So for those of you who enjoy the acoustic sound there you have it.
More info. You might be interested in is that IÕm recording a Christmas Cd. IÕm working on it with Pete Cavano. WeÕre recording it in his basement. It will be just one guitar and one voice. WeÕre going to try to wrap up recording next week and get the CD on sale on the web site and at shows by the end of November in time to get it to you for Christmas. IÕm doing all Christmas classics....No, there will be no, ÒGrandma got run over by a ReindeerÓ! IÕm looking forward to finishing the CD and hope you will love it. WeÕll keep you informed.
So thereÕs lots going on and itÕs all good. This past Sunday I was at the CrossRoads Service singing and playing my guitar with the band and I thought, ÒI have got it made. IÕm singing for a living, I love it. What more could I want?Ó. Thanks so much once again for all of your support. I hope you love what you do too. ItÕs a great blessing.
