IN THE MIDDLE

written by Anne E. DeChant

Gonna get out of here I swear
Gonna pack up that truck
Quit my job
and in a week I'm sure
They're gonna miss me so much
Gonna drink myself silly
until I lose my friends
They're so far away anyway
on the map and in my mind
Gonna make a new promise
to visit Helen every day
It's in my mind not on my time
But I'll get mine
when I'm alone one day

Some are there
and some are hardly there
But you remain
In the middle of your lixfe
It don't seem that grand
In the middle
Time's slipping through your hand
And I'm calling out her name
but she's walking away

Gonna get a new apartment
Bigger and with a view
And I'll feel like a success story
when I get a look from you
Gonna make a reminder
to run and play outside but
between my job my music
and relationship
Gonna make a new promise
to educate myself
But the road to hell and my intentions
are spaces on my shelf...
