Good afternoon,
Last night after I returned from a radio show in Knoxville (WDVX 89.9fm, Blue Plate Special), and Erin drove back from Bonnieville KY after having checked traps and feeding stations, we received a message from Tim and Andrea of Bonnieville. Our friend Jo and I visited Tim and Andrea's home 2 weeks ago. We explained that we had lost Adam and were searching. We gave Tim a flyer. He explained that they have one feral cat that hangs around their place (30 acres) but that he would keep and eye out for Adam. Tim and Andrea are about a mile from the site of the accident on the east side of the highway. Tim took Jo and I to his barn and showed us where the feral cat sometimes hangs out. We looked around for Adam. He assured us again that they would keep and eye out. Sometimes people do just what they say. And he did.
Last night Tim called and said when he went into his barn (very neat and cozy spot) there was a cat fitting Adam's description, sleeping on the seat of his tractor. When he walked in the cat jumped up to a platform above, then out of the barn under the door. Andrea set out food a bit after that and after a while the food was gone.
Around 9pm after walking the dogs (they have been so patient), Erin and I headed to Bonnieville. We drove through pouring rain...ugh!, but were hopeful that the rain would put this cat back in the barn at some point. We were met by Tim and Andrea (hugs from Andrea), two more lovely people from Bonnieville. They took us up to that barn and showed us just where Adam (yes please) was lying and where Andrea had placed the food.
Erin and I headed back through the woods and out to our traps and cameras. We grabbed one trap and two cameras. We drove back to the barn, set my turtleneck on the tractor seat along with a blanket Tim placed there (sweet), Erin's shirt in the trap along with some food and more food in the bowl on top of a rag with our scent.
Then we focused one camera on the tractor seat and one on the food. We hung out in the barn for a while talking hoping that Adam could hear our voices.
Andrea and Tim invited us in for a while, we sat and talked, with their cute dog Penny on our laps. Tim and Andrea invited us to stay anytime. Can you believe the kindness of people? We believe it more and more. We needed to come back for Guffman and Eve so we got home at 3am, crashed and now we wait to see what we get. Erin heads back today while I prepare for my two week road trip. Somewhere in between we will get a new truck so I have something to drive on tour (not a fan of hitchhiking).
What hope this has given us! That said, we are continuing the search a mile away where we saw paw prints. We don't want to abandon one hope for another.
We are so hopeful!
Thank you all again for your love and support. Every day we receive messages from you saying you are praying, hoping and full of confidence that we will be reunited with our boy.
We are grateful.
Focused and committed.
